Two products from sheet metal forming and HVAC construction products maker General Tools & Instruments have been given Dealer Design Awards from a major industry publication.

The Air Conditioning, Heating and Refrigeration News gave General’s 6-in-1 Psychrometer with Enthalpy (model No. EP8711P) took a Silver Award in the testing and monitoring products category. The magazine gave the company’s PalmScope model No. DCS950 a Bronze Award in the electric tools category.

Entries in 11th annual contest are judged by an independent panel of HVAC market contractors.

“Winning these Dealer Design Awards confirms that we’re achieving our goal to continually innovate products that make the job easier for HVACR technicians and contractors,” said General’s vice president of strategic marketing, Peter Harper. “The 6-in-1 Psychrometer with Enthalpy and PalmScope offer cutting-edge technology combined with superb convenience and affordability.”

The EP8711P calculates enthalpy and measure ambient temperature, relative humidity dew point, wet-bulb temperature and absolute humidity. A 6-inch-long sensor-tipped probe judges conditions inside sheet metal works ductwork.

The drop-resistant PalmScope is the first video inspection system made to fit in a pocket, General officials said. It has a 2-foot-long probe and can be operated with one hand.

ACHR News Publisher Mike Murphy said the entries represent some of the best products in HVAC sales.

“These awards give us a unique opportunity to recognize the outstanding research and development efforts that go into many of the products serving the HVACR industry, and the awards issue gives our readers an opportunity to read about innovative installation and service solutions,” he said.
