ASHRAE updates guidance on cooling data towers
The in’s and outs of using liquid cooling for data centers in explored in a new HVAC construction guide from ASHRAE.
The American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Engineers recently published the second edition of Liquid Cooling Guidelines for Datacom Equipment Centers.
“There is an increasing interest in liquid cooled IT (information technology) equipment at the rack, equipment and component levels,” said Don Beaty, publication chairman of the committee responsible for the manual. “There is also increased interest in reuse of the heat rejected from IT equipment. One of the more important changes to the second edition is the addition of supply water temperature classification.”
The book is the fourth in the ASHRAE datacom series. Ordering information is available by calling (800) 527-4723 or www.ashrae.org/bookstore on the Internet.
