HVAC construction lighting manufacturer Larson Electronics LLC announced Friday it was discontinuing the Magnalight and other smaller brands to focus on the marketing of its namesake brand.

What was started by Ernie Larson 40 years ago as a magnetic spotlight company has evolved into producing a varied line of lighting products for hazardous, industrial, hunting and construction uses, officials said.

“Forty years ago when Larson Electronics started, we made only handheld, magnetic spotlights and the  Magnalight name made sense, while today we make everything from portable solar light towers to three phase power distribution systems,” said company President Rob Bresnahan. “We feel the Larson Electronics name better encompasses all of our products offerings.”

The company will continue to make and distribute Magnalight parts, as well as honoring warranties, it said.

“Some of the very first work and spotlights developed by Larson are still working out in the field today,” Bresnahan said. “This is a testament to the quality that Larson Electronics continues to maintain.”
