After being a part owner for a decade, Danfoss has purchased all of mobile hydraulics maker Sauer-Danfoss. Terms were not disclosed.

The wholly owned Sauer-Danfoss’ U.S. operations will be based in Ames, Iowa. Its name will now be Danfoss Power Solutions and it will be part of the Danfoss Group.

“North America is the largest market for Danfoss,” said Danfoss North America President John Galyen. “We’re continuing to invest and expand our footprint here, and the addition of Sauer-Danfoss is another hallmark of our dedication to growth in the marketplace as a provider of innovative technologies.”

The purchase is important outside of North America, added Danfoss President and CEO Niels B. Christiansen.

“This is an extremely important step for the entire Danfoss Group,” Christiansen said. “Sauer-Danfoss is a well-run global company, so, for us, it marks the convergence of two equal units that will become stronger as a result.”
