Four students from California have received $1,000 scholarships from toolmaker Ridgid and the Plumbing-Heating-Cooling Contractors-National Association’s educational foundation.

In addition to $1,000 each in tuition assistance, the student winners will receive $1,500 in Ridgid-brand tools. The winners, all of whom work at PHCC member companies, were selected by the association, which administers the scholarship program.

“Ridgid is committed to providing scholarships to develop the next generation’s workforce,” said Craig Sumner, the company’s vice president of marketing. “With professional tools in their hands and help with their school costs, these students can focus on learning their crafts and building their careers.”

The winners are all enrolled — or soon will be — at the PHCC plumbing apprentice program in San Diego.

The recipients were:

Nestor Holguinof San Diego. He works full time at Bill Howe Plumbing.

Garrett Joynerof San Diego works at My Plumber.

Tyler Mitchellof San Diego. He works full time at Bill Howe Plumbing and will be enrolling in the apprentice program this fall.

George Perezof La Mesa, Calif., is working full-time Anderson Plumbing, Heating & Air Inc., and will be enrolling in the apprentice program this fall.
