Johnson Controls has entered the ductless HVAC market with a line of mini-split air conditioners and heat pumps under the Luxaire brand.

The equipment will be sold as part of Luxaire’s Acclimate and LX Series. It is aimed at homeowners and buildings where ductwork-based HVAC systems are not practical. Single- and multi-zone systems are available.

“With the introduction of compact, energy-efficient ductless mini-splits, we are offering home and building owners a system that will heat and cool their structures without installing air handlers and expensive ductwork,” said Mimoun Abaraw, a senior product manager with Johnson Controls’ unitary products group. “The systems combine smaller outdoor units and attractive, slim wall-mounted indoor units, linked by a conduit that requires nothing more than a small three-to four-inch opening.”
