Air Conditioning Contractors of America members are still positive about business prospects this year, but that confidence is dropping a little.

The ACCA’s Contractor Comfort Index for August is 66 – a five-point decline from July’s figure, and a 10-point drop from the record highs of May and June.

The index measures short-term attitudes on economic growth, including business activity, hiring and prospects. A figure above 50 indicates more contractors feel positive rather than negative, and the higher the figure, the more confident members are.

A year ago, the index stood at 60. The next survey will be released near the end of September.
