Johnson Controls recently gave six fan-coil cooling units to a plumbing and pipefitters union apprentice program.

“Johnson Controls is always looking for talented and skilled professionals to join our staff,” said James Mylett, vice president of field and business operations service in North America for the company's building efficiency division. “Educating the next generation of technicians is essential to provide the level of knowledge and services that customers expect in the building-systems industry.”

The units will be used in the United Association’s annual apprentice contest, which takes place in Ann Arbor, Mich. The HVAC contestants will pipe the Johnson Controls-donated units.

“We are a leading employer of trained technicians,” Mylett said.  “When we encourage and help train the skilled technicians of the future, we benefit along with them.”

Johnson Controls employee Neil Mani won the 2012 competition.
