At HARDI’s 2012 annual conference in Orlando, Fla., four North American Technician Excellence awards were given to members.

The awards, handed out during the Oct. 6-9 event, recognize the efforts of the Heating, Air-conditioning and Refrigeration Distributors International in promoting technician certification.

“In the past, the awards recognized our partners’ efforts by the number of exams given by the respective organizations,” said NATE Chairman Don Frendberg, a former HARDI executive. “This year it was changed to reflect the number of technicians actually certified, which is more realistic since many technicians hold multiple certifications.”

The top certifier of NATE technicians was Georgia-based Mingledorff’s Inc. and was accepted by “Bud” Mingledorff, president of the company. Mingledorff’s was honored with this award for being the HARDI distributor who certified the most technicians since last year’s HARDI conference.

HARDI’s 2012 single location top certifier was Johnstone Supply in Denver. The company certified 138 people. The award was accepted by Johnstone Supply President Rick Hull.

Virginia Air Distributors, with 57 technicians certified, received the award for being the HARDI distributor with the most improvement in the number of technician certifications in the past year.

The 2012 Rising Star Award was given to S.G. Torrice Co., the distributor with the greatest improvement in technician certifications in the past year.
