St. Louis-based mechanical contractor Murphy Co. logged over 1 million hours without an accident.
The accomplishment was recognized April 14 with a 2011 Safety Award from the American Subcontractors Association Midwest Council. The award was presented to Patrick J. Murphy Jr. in St. Louis.
In additional to below-average incident rates, Murphy Co. was selected based on an evaluation of their safety program, officials said.
“One of our core values is employee well-being,” said Thomas C. Skaggs, vice president of safety at Murphy Co. “We never want to see anyone injured. Our goal is to achieve a zero-injury workplace, so we are continuously working to improve our safety culture.”
