The National Roofing Contractors Association is supporting the proposed 2013 budget passed by the House Budget Committee March 21.

Officials with the association say it balances budget cuts and spending reforms to help jump-start the American economy in general and the roofing industry in particular.

As part of the proposal committee Chairman Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) suggests lowering the corporate and top individual tax rates to 25 percent and eliminating the alternative minimum tax.

The plan would cut taxes for all businesses, regardless of how they are structured, NRCA said, adding that with a 17 percent unemployment rate, the construction industry needs help.
