The Statue of Liberty will be getting a new HVAC system, as well as other upgrades.

The National Park Service has awarded the commissioning contract to Heery International to work on the mechanical, electrical and life safety systems at the New York City harbor landmark. It includes the base museum as well as the statue itself.

Heery’s senior commissioning agent, Terrell Travis, said he is excited about the project.

“It’s not often you get to work on a national treasure,” Travis said. “We enjoy working with the National Park Service and are honored to be part of such an important project.”
