Miller Electric Manufacturing Co. is asking customers to help create its next welding helmet.

“Hood Hysteria” runs until May 31. Fans of the company’s welding helmets can download a design template at theofficial contest Web site and enter by mail or online. The top prize package includes the winner-created helmet, a leather jacket, plasma cutter and other prizes worth $3,100.

“We’re very excited about this opportunity to empower Miller’s talented fan base with the Hood Hysteria contest,” said Stephanie Lowney, a Miller marketing specialist. “For many fabricators and metalworkers, a welding hood is a part of a lifestyle and it can capture the very essence of their personality. This is a chance to share that vision with the rest of the community. My advice to entrants is to be original, be bold, be daring.”

The winner will be announced June 30.
