Four teams will compete in theMechanical Contractors Association of America's student chapter competition.

Teams from Northeastern University, Purdue University, University of Nebraska-Lincoln and the University of Washington will compete in the MCAA’s student chapter competition.

A panel of judges selected the student teams Jan. 8 after reviewing proposals submitted by 28 Mechanical Contractors Association of America chapters from colleges and universities nationwide.

The teams will compete March 2 as part of the MCAA’s annual convention at the JW Marriott Desert Ridge in Scottsdale, Ariz. Each will have 20 minutes to convince judges that they should perform the fictitious build-and-spec project: erect a 73,000-square-foot, two-story hospital in northern California. First-place winners receive $5,000, second-place teams get $2,500 and $1,000 goes to the other finalists.

Proposals will be scored on quality, organization, scheduling and design feasibility.
