The Air Conditioning Contractors of America has
launched a new program to help its contractor members recycle refrigerants
while recouping some of their costs.
ACCA has partnered with USA Refrigerants, a refrigerant distribution, recovery
and recycling company.
The R-22 buyback program is designed for cost-conscious mechanical contractors,
said the ACCA. The program is a way for contractors to recover refrigerants and
get paid for it.
Contractors who enroll in the program receive recovery cylinders, and once the
provided cylinder is full, it is collected, reclaimed and replaced. There is no
freight cost associated with this program, and there is no time limit on
filling them, allowing contractors to recover at any rate.
Upon reclamation, the contractor receives a complete Environmental Protection
Agency reclaim report along with compensation based on the market price of the
recovered refrigerant.
“Reclaiming refrigerant is the law and it’s the right thing to do,” said Paul
T. Stalknecht, ACCA president and CEO. “The USA Refrigerant program allows
contractors to recover refrigerant while recovering some of their costs, as
well. We’re excited to partner with such a first-rate company to offer this
service to our members.”
