Danfoss will celebrate its 75th anniversary this
year with a series of employee celebrations in North America and around the
world.
“We’re extremely proud of our heritage and excited
about the company’s future,” said Robert Wilkins, president of Danfoss Inc.
“From day one, Danfoss had a unique culture to build innovative products, while
being environmentally and socially responsible. Such responsibility has always
been a Danish cultural phenomenon - one that persists in Danfoss to this
day.”
Wilkins noted that in this decade Danfoss has enjoyed
global sales growth of about 9 percent per year - and a significantly higher
rate in North America. Worldwide, the company has 70 factories in 25 countries,
114 sales offices and 22,500 employees.
“The breadth and
depth of products and components are our strength,” Wilkins said. “We can truly
provide solutions to meet any comfort challenges. In fact, these solutions are
more critical than ever before, given the increased focus on the environment,
conservation and the responsible use of natural
resources.”
Engineer Mads Clausen established the company in
1933 as “Dansk Koleautomatik & Apparat-fabrik,” a small sole proprietorship
in Denmark. His first product was an expansion valve for refrigeration
systems.
In 1946, the company registered the name Danfoss.
Over the past 75 years, Danfoss has remained a family-owned company. It is currently
headed by Mads Clausen’s son, President and CEO Jorgen M. Clausen.
