Imago Productions Inc.’s trade show division is teaming up with BNP Media to present the National Disaster Recovery Expo, June 17-19, 2009, at the Earnest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans.

An event billed as the first to encompass the entire disaster reconstruction industry is coming to New Orleans next year.

Imago Productions Inc.’s trade show division is teaming up with BNP Media, parent company of Snips magazine, to present the National Disaster Recovery Expo, June 17-19, 2009, at the Earnest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans.

The event, to be known as the NRDExpo, was designed to bring together the many markets involved in disaster recovery, preparedness and response, organizers said.

“We look forward to bringing these different entities together in one world-class event in New Orleans and to providing the opportunity for them to learn from, and support each other,” said Evan Kessler, publisher of Restoration & Remediation magazine, a BNP Media publication.

According to industry estimates, the disaster reconstruction market includes more than 70 organizations.

There was a real need for an event that would bring these groups and supporting industries together, said Jimmy Mouton, president of Atlanta-based Imago’s trade show division.

“We surveyed the industry and were astounded by the results,” Mouton said. “Over 83 percent of those surveyed indicated a consolidated event was needed. In addition, we learned what industry segments these professionals would like to see in one setting. Our goal is to create a forum for these individuals that creates opportunities for greater cohesiveness of response and recovery efforts.”
