Mark your calendars: April 27 to May 3 has been designated National Plumbing Industry Week.

The U.S. House of Representatives passed a resolution April 9 marking the event, which is meant to celebrate the 125th anniversary of the Plumbing-Heating-Cooling Contractors National Association. It also recognizes the role of plumbing in ensuring the nation’s health.

The bipartisan resolution was introduced by New York Democratic Rep. Nydia Velazquez, chairwoman of the House Small Business Committee, and Steve Chabot (R-Ohio), the ranking GOP member on the committee.

“This is a significant acknowledgment of our industry’s contributions to society,” said PHCC President Jim Finley of C.N. Finley in New Orleans. “We believe this gives National Plumbing Industry Week the recognition it deserves.”
