Those already registered for the Feb. 13-16 International Builders’ Show are showing they’re interested in environmentally conscious construction in a big way.

Online show planners atwww.buildershow.com, which expected attendees use to map out their daily activities, are demonstrating a clear preference for green-themed seminars and courses, organizers the National Association of Home Builders said.

“NAHB has been preparing its members for the day that green building takes center stage in the marketplace,” said Southern California home builder Brian Catalde, who currently serves as association president. “That day is almost here and our builders are getting ready.”

The NAHB recently launched its Certified Green Professional designation for builders that want to market themselves as among the “greenest” construction companies in the marketplace. It will hold its 10th annual Green Building Conference May 11-13 in New Orleans.

Six of the 10 most popular educational sessions, based on pre-registrations, deal with green building, officials added. The Builders’ Show has 24 environmental sessions this year, most taking place Feb. 14, which has been designated as Green Day.

“The combination of all these green launches and initiatives is quite exciting for all of us,” Catalde said. “I look forward to celebrating on Green Day with all our green builders, remodelers and suppliers.”
