The new Trane XV95 variable-speed gas furnace delivers a 96.7 percent annual fuel-utilization efficiency rating. The furnaces are designed with two-stage gas valves and variable speed motors, which Trane says will deliver better efficiency and home comfort, as well as money savings. The Trane XV95 is Energy Star-qualified and eligible for federal tax credits because it meets the new requirements for gas furnaces. The savings can total as much as $150 in tax credits for the furnace and an additional $50 credit for the variable-speed motor. Additional features include an insulated blow door and cabinet, automotive-grade gaskets to reduce sound and air infiltration, and compatibility with high-SEER outdoor units.
