This straight-sided, end-frame hydraulic press is powered by a 150-horsepower motor equipped with a variable-frequency drive for increased energy efficiency. By controlling the frequency of electrical power supplied to the motor, the drive cuts down on unwarranted energy expenditures, officials say. The company reports that energy-cost studies predict a payback time of less than two years. The benefits of the VFD include the ability to program pressing speeds without the expense of proportional valves, and reduced noise and heat levels during idle periods.
