Jerry Weiss was named chairman of the Green Mechanical Council, an association that tries to educate the public about the benefit of earth-friendly mechanical systems.
Weiss is the executive director of HVAC Excellence and chairman of the board of Educational Standards Corp. He is also a member of the board of directors for the Carbon Monoxide Safety Association, founder and director of the Esco Group and publisher for Esco Press.
Steven H. Allen, administrator of HVACR education and journeyman recruitment for the United Association, was named vice chairman of the group. Allen is also the developer of the UA’s Star testing and certification program.
Tom Crandell, director of the corporate and professional development center at Ferris State University in Big Rapids, Mich., was named as treasurer of the group. Taking on the role of secretary is Walter Jann, executive vice president of Legend Valve.
Directors elected to the Green Mechanical Council include, Dan Chiles, vice president of marketing for Watts Radiant; Scott Berger, owner of New York-based mechanical contractor Arista; Michael Senter, CEO of Abco Refrigeration Supply Corp.; and Mary Milmoe of Carrier Corp.
Tom Meyer of the Green Mechanical Council was elected as executive director.
