Two CertainTeed products will be used in the new Trump International Hotel and Tower under construction in Chicago.
ToughGard2 textile duct liner and SoftTouch premium duct wrap will be installed in the combination hotel-condominium development, which is scheduled to open in 2009. The hotel will take up 2.6 million square feet and stand 1,362 feet tall, making it the second-tallest building in Chicago and one of the five tallest in the nation.
Design plans call for 472 super-luxury condominiums, 286 five-star luxury hotel rooms, as well as retail, parking, health club and spa space. As for the building’s sheet metal and HVAC ductwork, it will be interior-lined with CertainTeed’s ToughGard2 and wrapped with SoftTouch premium duct wrap.
“We are very pleased to have our ToughGard2 and SoftTouch premium duct wrap insulation specified in such a prestigious luxury hotel and condominium project,” said Howard Deck, president of CertainTeed’s Insulation Group. “It speaks volumes for our products when they are associated with a world-renowned entity like the Trump organization. These products should provide Trump Tower residents and guests with real comfort and noiseless air transmission for many years to come.”
ToughGard2 is an acoustical liner used in sheet metal ducts to absorb unwanted crosstalk and equipment and air-rush noise. It also provides thermal insulation inside the ducts. SoftTouch duct wrap is usually wrapped around the exterior of sheet metal ducts, providing thermal efficiency to reduce unwanted heat loss or gain from equipment and ductwork.
