Chicagoland Council names award winners
September 1, 2006
The Chicagoland Better Heating-Cooling Council named Don Howley as its Educator of the Year for 2005-2006.
Howley of Affiliated Steam Equipment Inc. earned the distinction for his two-part "Basic Steam School," which the Chicagoland council says drew high marks from attendees.
"Don's school was so popular that we had to add a second session to handle the demand," said council President John Stern. "Hands-on schools such as the Basic Steam School are the lifeblood of CBHCC's education program."
The Educator of the Year Award is given to the instructor whose program is judged to meet criteria of excellence during the previous school year.
The Chicagoland Council also named Climatemp Service Group as the Contractor of the Year, which is presented to the member who demonstrates a high degree of involvement in council programs.
"Climatemp sent 50 service techs to CBHCC schools during our 2005-2006 year, which represented more than 10 percent of all our registrations for the year," said Scott Gorgius, council education chairman. "Their involvement in our education program has been tremendous."
When considering award nominees, the council looks at the number of employees a contractor sends to affiliated schools and the level of involvement.
