Green Bay, Wis.-based Tweet/Garot Mechanical worked 2.5 million safe hours without a lost-time accident, a milestone for the company.
The achievement occurred April 23 and spanned a 46-month period starting in June 2003.
Tweet/Garot received an Outstanding Achievement in Safety Award from the Wisconsin Council of Safety last year and other recent safety awards from the Associated General Contractors, the Mechanical Contractors Association of America and the Sheet Metal Occupational Health Institute Trust. These awards were achieved based on an Occupational Safety and Health Administration incident rate significantly lower than the industry average.
The contractor's zero-injury program was introduced in January 2004 in order to promote safety awareness and make employees more proactive about safety.
