Virginia company takes first place in York national distributor contest.

NORMAN, Okla. - Virginia Air Distributors in Richmond, Va., received first place in a national distributor contest hosted by York International's Unitary Product Group.

The company has been a York distributor since 1987, and operates 13 locations in Virginia, West Virginia, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Ohio.

Second-place honors went to Johnson Supply Inc. in Houston. A York distributor since 1988, Johnson Supply operates 23 locations in Texas and Louisiana.

The contest rewards distributors that use the sales and marketing programs and promotions York makes available to its distributors. Sales performance and growth also influence the selection of a contest winner.

Distributors were grouped by size and awarded points according to performance in 19 categories, including product mix, number of dealers and participation in York programs, including the Liberties program and York's Business Training University.

As the contest's first-place winner, Virginia Air received a $10,000 grand-prize package that included a Dell desktop computer, the services of a York university trainer for a day and several pieces of equipment.

The $2,500 second prize awarded to Johnson Supply included a color printer, PowerPoint projector, projection screen and computer memory "stick."

"We appreciate the efforts made by all of our distributors and consider these organizations to be among the best distribution companies in the industry," said Andy Fracica, York brand manager. "These two firms, however, have really distinguished themselves in terms of their strategic use of the support programs that we offer and the subsequent growth they have experienced during the past year."
