Arizona homes get a facelift

TUCSON, Ariz. - Apprentices in the Plumbing-Heating-Cooling Contractors Association's Southern Arizona chapter were involved in rebuilding Tucson's Corbett neighborhood, where 16 homes will have major plumbing and HVAC problems fixed. The project is being completed through a partnership with the charity Rebuilding Together.

The PHCC apprentices contributed their time in preparing job estimates and supply lists. Approximately 20 apprentices helped with the work on the homes. Three instructors also volunteered their time: Meta Everett, director; George Hoffmeister, fourth-year HVAC instructor; and Rick Myers, third-year plumbing instructor.

Some of the replacement equipment was donated for the project. Naughton's Plumbing provided a two-speed evaporative cooler Heating and Cooling Supplies donated a two-speed evaporative cooler and Segler-Reeves donated a Master Cool cooler.
