industry, has recently opened several store locations, and has seen two company executives moving from Johnstone corporate offices into Johnstone stores.
"Continuing growth in the number of our stores is a solid indicator of the cooperative's success," said Johnstone President Gary Daniels. "But it is how we are growing and the fact that many of our top employees want to be directly involved at the store level that really tells us we're doing the right things."
Mark Faber, Johnstone vice president of member development, recently become involved with local storage management, and executive Stephen Brown also recently left a role in the corporate merchandising department to become a co-owner of the Johnstone location in Albuquerque, N.M.
"I had wanted to get involved again at the store level and get back into the front lines," said Brown. "Having 24 years of industry experience allows me to really make things happen at the store level, and this is a great opportunity for me to make a difference directly with Johnstone customers on a daily basis. It's a lot of fun."
A new Syracuse, N.Y. location will be under the leadership of Ken Livingston, who currently owns a Johnstone Supply store in Rochester, N.Y.
A new Greensboro, N.C. location will be the third store for owners Charlie and DeAnn Melhinch, who also own stores in Raleigh and Durham, N.C.
Johnstone Supply store owners are independent members of a cooperative, allowing them to make autonomous local business decisions while enjoying the benefits of cost savings and support in purchasing, marketing, and operational aspects.
Johnstone Supply, which as founded in Portland, Ore., in 1953, has more than 255 stores across the nation.
