People interested in selling their equipment can submit a free on-line "for sale" ad and those who are looking to buy can browse the "equipment wanted" section. Every ad stays posted on the Web site for three months.
"The works just like an electronic bulletin board or the classified section of a newspaper or magazine," explained Peter Riehle, Trumpf's vice president of sales and marketing and president of the company's Mexico division. "You can either place an advertisement or look through offers of machines for sale."
Similar to make other Internet marketplaces, Trumpf acts as an intermediary between buyers and sellers, ensuring the transaction is satisfactory to both sides. No commission is charged. Potential sellers simply answer a list of questions about the products they offer, including condition, shipping and installation arrangements.
The service is open to sheet metal fabricating companies. Advertisements by original fabricating equipment manufacturers and retailers are prohibited. For more information, visit the Trumpf Web site or call (860) 255-6000.
"This is really a very easy way to find or sell used equipment online," Riehle added. "Trumpf is proud to be able to offer this additional service to our customers."
