Honeywell has made available newly upgraded PC-based Savings Estimator software, a predictive tool that estimates energy use and potential savings for new or existing commercial/institutional buildings.

The new version, according to Honeywell, "offers a major enhancement that simplifies determining estimated savings for control strategies beyond a commercial multistage thermostat. A separate initial 'setback' savings estimate has been added as an initial controls upgrade option. Successive economizer and demand control ventilation (DCV) upgrades options add cumulative savings to this base plus setback strategy."

The software produces a customized estimate based on building type and use, system types and efficiencies, and energy cost inputs for over 239 cities representing a variety of climates based on U.S. Weather Service 30- to 60-year historical hourly data.

An executable version of the upgraded software (20MB) can be downloaded from www.honeywell.com/building/components. A CD-ROM of the original version can be ordered via email at info@honeywell.com.
