Honeywell thermostat receives award
MINNEAPOLIS - Honeywell's VisionPro 8000 programmable thermostat has been awarded the 2005 Building Technologies Product of the Year from growth consulting firm Frost & Sullivan.
"High quality, universal application, easy operation and innovation in capabilities are the key differentiations that have helped the selection of VisionPro as product of the year," according to a statement from Frost & Sullivan.
The award recognized Honeywell's research and development process in creating the VisionPro. Honeywell sought feedback from homeowners and contractors, as well as distributors.
The VisionPro's simple programming, real-time clock, universal compatibility and large touch screen were some of the features that factored in to the award from Frost & Sullivan. According to Honeywell, these features translate into benefits such as homeowners being able to program the VisionPro without reading the manual.
"In the past, customers weren't using their programmable thermostats for their intended purpose because they were too difficult to program," said Eileen Youds, vice president of Honeywell North America Homes. "To create VisionPro, Honeywell listened to and watched hundreds of homeowners interact with their thermostats. It's very gratifying that our efforts have been recognized with this award."
