Formtek starts equipment restoration companies
August 1, 2003
Sheet-metal machinery maker Formtek Inc. has started two equipment-reconditioning divisions. The South Elgin, Ill.-based FMI will recondition or rebuild roll-forming, coil processing and flexible-fabrication machines and systems from Formtek's Cooper-Weymouth Peterson, Rowe, B&K, Dahlstrom, Hill Engineering, Iowa Precision Industries, Lockformer and Yoder brands. Formtek also opened Iowa Rebuilders Inc. in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to perform the same services on Iowa Precision and Rowe machines. Don Hill, Formtek executive vice president, said there was a significant demand for equipment restoration from customers. "Requests come in almost daily to Formtek locations for retro-fitting or rebuilding older equipment," Hill said, adding that before starting the restoration divisions, "we could only help those companies on a limited basis."
