YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - Several members of the Northamerican Heating, Refrigeration and Airconditioning Wholesalers Association were involved with a Habitat for Humanity project here last summer.
The home was built by the Habitat for Humanity Youngstown affiliate. The home is about 1,100 square feet and built on a slab. It will have three bedrooms and one bath. McCrudden Heating Supply Inc. in conjunction with Lukjan Metal Products Inc. and Hart & Cooley, donated the coated underground heating duct, additional ductwork and registers.
Four other member companies worked together to offer deeply discounted items. Famous Supply Co. worked with Armstrong Air Conditioning Inc. to supply the furnace to the project and Robertson Heating Supply Co., in cooperation with Rheem, provided the home's water heater.
The home's groundbreaking ceremony was held on May 7 and it was dedicated on August 13. The homeowner is a single mother with three children. Habitat for Humanity, founded by former President Jimmy Carter, works in partnership with low-income, working families to build simple, decent, affordable homes. Habitat homeowners purchase their houses through no-profit, no-interest mortgages while contributing hundreds of hours of "sweat equity."
