ALEXANDRIA, Va. - The American Subcontractors Association recognized five volunteers and seven chapters for outstanding achievements.

ALEXANDRIA, Va. - The American Subcontractors Association recognized five ASA volunteers for individual accomplishments and seven chapters for outstanding achievements.

All received Achievement Awards at a ceremony at the association's annual Business Forum and Convention. President Anne Bigane Wilson, P.E., also presented the ASA President's Award during the ceremony.

ASA's Achievement Awards are given out in: individual accomplishments, chapter accomplishments, and government and industry-relations efforts.

The awards and recipients were:

Outstanding Chapter of the Year: Central Ohio Chapter; Leonard A. Weiss Award: Midwest Council and ASA of Mississippi; Outstanding Chapter President: Michael Boyd, ASA of Arizona; Outstanding Chapter Executive: Debra Miller, ASA of Colorado; Outstanding Service at the National Level: Richard Usher, Hill & Usher Insurance & Surety Services, Phoenix; Outstanding Service at the State Level: Dennis Lewis, Potter Concrete Co., Dallas; and Brian Chester, United Mechanical, Dallas; Government Relations Award for Merit: North Texas Chapter; Outstanding Education Program: Central Ohio Chapter; Outstanding Community Relations: Redwood Empire Chapter; Honorable Mention: D.C. Metropolitan Subcontractors Association; Technology: Middle Tennessee; Honorable Mentions: ASA of Greater Phoenix and ASA-Midwest Council.

Wilson presented the ASA President's Award to Rick Wanner of Wanner Metal Worx in Delaware, Ohio. The President's Award is presented to the individual who most supports the ASA president during his or her term.

During the awards ceremony, ASA also gave special recognition to Nancy Eckert, executive director of the Washington, D.C., Metropolitan Subcontractors Association, for her 20 years of service to the association.
