ROCKVILLE, Md. - Fred Ziffer received the fourth D.S. O'Brien Award of Excellence during the 18th annual Mechanical Service Contractors of America conference.

The conference, titled "MSCA 2003 - New Opportunities for Service in a New America," was held in Amelia Island, Fla.

In presenting the award, Robert Malia, chairman of the MSCA board of managers, said Ziffer's "skillfulness at negotiation strategies, his broad national perspective, and his objective analysis of labor-management issues have played a major role in expanding the effectiveness and acceptance of the national agreement as well as enhancing labor-management relationships nationwide."

Ziffer worked on behalf of the MSCA and its Labor Relations Committee over the past 10 years. His career in the industry includes 39 years with York International Corp., most recently as York's field operations manager.
