Supplier touts the benefits of certified technicians for homeowners and the industry.

JOHNSON CITY, N.Y. - As a partner in the North American Technician Excellence program, Meier Supply will begin to offer the test to local HVAC technicians.

"NATE certification is a win-win for everyone involved throughout the service chain," said Frank A. Meier Jr., president of Johnson City, N.Y.-based Meier Supply Co. and immediate past president of the Heating, Air Conditioning, Refrigeration Distributors International. "Manufacturers, wholesalers, distributors, contractors, technicians and customers all benefit from having heating and cooling equipment that is professionally installed and serviced. That's why we're behind NATE's certification program."

Rex Boynton, president of NATE, views Meier's commitment to the program as a valuable asset in spreading the word about the benefits of technical certification.

"Frank Meier's experience and depth of knowledge in the wholesale-distributor market, coupled with his tenure in the HVACR industry, provide expertise and leadership that will help provide better trained and more knowledgeable technicians in this area," said Boynton.

According to Meier Supply, while professional certification is not currently required for HVACR technicians in its region, some local governments do require NATE certification before technicians can be licensed.
