PALM SPRINGS, Calif. - ASHRAE has been recognized for its work in standards development, education and research.

PALM SPRINGS, Calif. - The American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers has been recognized for its work in building commissioning, including standards development, education and research.

The Benner Award, given by Portland Energy Conservation Inc., in memory of Nancy Benner, was recently presented to ASHRAE at the National Conference on Building Commission in Palm Springs, Calif.

The award recognizes individuals and programs or organizations that have engaged in educational, demonstration, policy or actual commissioning activities that successfully promote building commissioning.

"All commissioning process projects have relied on information from ASHRAE for their scope, structure and tools used," according to the nomination. "Without ASHRAE, there would not have been a commissioning process or the industry we know today."
