McQuay chillers to cool 2006 Asian Games' village
MINNEAPOLIS - McQuay Air Conditioning will supply 11 2,000-ton dual centrifugal-compressor chillers for the 2006 Asian Games' Olympic Village in Doha, Qatar. The chiller contract is estimated at over $3 million.
The chillers will be used in 12 complexes, a total of over 1.8 million square feet, which will house 10,500 people during the games. After the event, the complex will be converted to the Hamad Medical Center, and will include pediatrics and orthopedics hospitals, a physical-therapy unit, rehabilitation center and elderly welfare center.
McQuay has provided chillers for several other installations in Qatar, including Khaliffa Sports City, the Museum of Islamic Arts, and Education City, a multi-institutional campus currently under construction. When finished the campus will include more than 30 buildings.
