Engel makes machinery for roof panels, walk-in cooler panels, gutters, metal studs, window wells, filter frames, furnace wrappers, metal furniture, guard rails and other custom shapes. Complete systems are also manufactured for coil handling, notching and punching.
Engel's new general manager, Stuart Williams, said the company would be upgrading its product line.
"We are evaluating and improving our manufacturing process in areas such as new machinery, quality control and redesigning product to make it more serviceable and marketable," Williams said.
Engel now joins Formtek's other sheet-metal divisions, which include Cooper-Weymouth Peterson, B&K, Dahlstrom, Hill Engineering, Iowa Precision, Lockformer, Rowe and Yoder.
In other company news, Formtek has received a business license for its wholly owned investment Formtek Machinery Co. Ltd. in Beijing.
Formtek Beijing will operate as an assembly and machinery-integration operation from a shop it has leased for 10 years. The business will assemble HVAC and roll-forming machinery licensed from its U.S. affiliates for sale throughout the world.
The plant will begin shipping to Asia in the first quarter of this year, the company said.
