Hamlin Sheet Metal recently held a groundbreaking ceremony in Greenwood, Miss., for a 70,000 square-foot manufacturing plant scheduled to open April 1.

Rain shortened the ceremony, sending attendees to a nearby agricultural center, where Hamlin hosted a luncheon for local officials.

The plant will produce round, oval and rectangular duct and fittings. Company officials said the new plant will help Hamlin better compete in the local market and increase capacity at its North Carolina facilities in Benson and Garner.

This month marks Hamlin's 50th year in business.
