Program will guide association members on bidding and profitability issues.

CHANTILLY, Va. - The Sheet Metal and Air-Conditioning Contractors' National Association has introduced an advanced estimating program, available through the chapter education program in 2005.

According to SMACNA, the program will aim to help estimators look at the "big picture" in the estimation process. Topics covered will include the pre-bid qualification process, the scope of projects and how to leverage them for profitability, protecting company interests and improving internal communications. The program will also take a look at different project options, and how to understand scheduling and more.

Kevin Dougherty of Proof Management Consultants will lead the program. Dougherty has more than 15 years of speaking experience in the construction industry.

SMACNA offered 44 chapter education programs in 2004. Chapters can begin signing up for the advanced estimating program. For more information, call (703) 803-2987.
