Engel procured the services of independent laboratory Senco Services Corp., St. Louis, for testing purposes. Stringent testing of the CDS duct was necessary to assure that the CDS meets SMACNA requirements when using a TDF flange.
As required, deflection readings were taken at water gauge increments of 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, and 10 inches. The results of the tests showed that the CDS unit and all duct samples included meet the requirements of the TDF (T-25b) Transverse Duct Flanges as well as the T-25a as specified in Addendum No. 1, November 1997 to HVAC Construction Standards, Second Edition-1995.
Some companies purchasing the CDS say it has a significant advantage over conventionally inserted corner duct assemblies because of its structural stability and the labor savings achieved.
