This company has launched its Jesse James Signature Series line of equipment, named after the founder of West Coast Choppers, the subject of a popular cable-TV show. The line includes the PowerCut 650 plasma-cutting machine designed to manually cut 5/8-inch and sever 3/4-inch materials. The PowerCut's adjustable output allows the operator to tailor the current to the material being cut. The line also features the MultiMaster 260 multipurpose welding machine for welding MIG DC TIG and stick-electrode welding. Multimaster also offers DC welding output from 15 to 300 amps and is rated 260 amps at 50 percent duty cycle.

Coil-Tack, a new duct insulation adhesive, has been introduced. Coil-Tack is a low tack, nonflammable, water-based insulation adhesive engineered for spray or extruding coil line applications. According to the company, the low-viscosity, low-suspended solids of Coil-Tack eliminate clogging within the adhesive-delivery system, ensuring consistent operation.

The new PC-based ProMotion HVAC CNC is designed for HVAC plasma-cutting machines that cut sheet metal and insulation. The product is available for retrofit use or can be ordered with new machines. The ProMotion HVAC incorporates a Windows XP operating system in an industrial enclosure. Along with advanced dual-microprocessor technology, one processor for Windows operations and the other processor for motion, the CNC incorporates a 12.1-inch TFT high-resolution flat-panel display. The CNC also provides new HVAC shape-cutting capabilities.

The new MiniLog T and MiniLog T Plus RH are designed to measure and record temperature and relative humidity for various applications. The tool offers a continuous battery life of up to five years, according to the company. Other highlights of the data loggers include acquisition-sample intervals from one second to two hours, ranges up to 185ºF, user-defined max and min alarms, and a built-in, real-time clock. The instrument is also available with 8,000 or 16,000 data memory.

The new Z Gard Monitoring Products are designed to fit a variety of gas-monitoring needs. The Z Gard S Sensor detects the presence of carbon monoxide or nitrogen dioxide in the air. Solid state or electrochemical sensors are employed, which generates a signal proportional to the gas concentration. The Z Gard controllers are microprocessor-based and are designed to work with up to 40 remote Z Gard sensors. Also available is the Z Gard Combo Gas Monitor with integrated carbon monoxide sensor in two versions: with a metal oxide solid-state sensor for underground garage monitoring or an electrochemical plug-in sensor.

A complete line of combustion-gas analyzers is available. The instruments supply real-time data for tuning and preventative maintenance of burners on furnaces, boilers and other heating appliances. Two new data loggers for monitoring run times on HVACR systems, pumps and more have been introduced. The new Hobo U9 On/Off and Hobo U9 State loggers provide a way to record up to 43,000 equipment on/off cycles or state changes, and use Windows-based software to convert the recorded data into time- and date-stamped graphs. The loggers attach to motor housings without wiring, which eliminates the need to lock out equipment being monitored. The State logger can be wired to any contact closure or passive-relay switch. Both models include a replaceable lithium battery, which offers operation up to one year.

The AC71 clamp-style digital multimeters employ two features: AutoTect plus an automatic backlight. AutoTect automatically senses what type of measurement is being made when test leads are placed across a measurement point. With no knob to turn, the meter automatically senses what is being tested and displays the measured value along with the associated unit icon. An automatic backlight sensor recognizes when ambient light is insufficient and turns on a bright blue light for easier viewing.

The SuperHeat Psychrometer Model RH350 is designed for HVACR, mold prevention and plant maintenance applications. The Kestrel 4100 Air Flow Tracker measures cubic feet per minute, temperature, relative humidity and dew point, and stores 480 data points in its logger. According to the company, the technician chooses the shape of the duct or opening then enters the dimensions of the duct and airflow is automatically calculated in cfm. Readings are displayed when the Kestrel is held in the airflow. When airflow fluctuates or is variable across the duct, the instrument has an averaging function that lets the user control the timing of the average.

Spectronics Corp. introduced a special kit to help technicians detect leaks in air-conditioning and refrigeration systems. The kit features the new Optimax Jr., a mini-fluorescent leak detection flashlight that measures just over 7 inches in length. The compact leak detector has a 100,000-hour LED bulb and is powered by three AA batteries. The kit also includes EZ-Ject dye injector with hose and fitting, two dye cartridges containing universal, solvent-free AR-Glo fluorescent dye, Glo-Away dye cleaner and fluorescence-enhancing glasses.

The TNC Cooling Fan is one of the latest products designed for quiet and rapid heat dissipation, and uses a TEK airfoil blower wheel to provide silent cooling. The TEK wheel is a molded, aerodynamically refined, backward-curved airfoil impeller with non-overloading power characteristics. According to this company, its latest product is an affordable option in big air movement. The Big EZ Fan comes in two sizes, 10-foot diameter and 14-foot diameter. In terms of air movement, one Big EZ Fan can take the place of 10 1/3- to 1/2 horsepower high-velocity fans, making it 30 percent to 40 percent less expensive to operate, according to the company. The All-In-One Leak Detection Kit for HVAC and refrigeration systems is an eight-piece kit, which uses dyes and lights to check for leaks. It features a dye injector called the Revolver. The Revolver comes with a charging hose that swivels 360 degrees at both ends. It also injects small doses of dye to avoid system contamination. Airguard has unveiled a combination particulate and activated carbon filter that provides odor control for commercial and industrial environments. The media used in the Fresh Air Supreme filter captures odors through both chemical and adsorption. The media for the product is self-supporting and does not require a metal backing to shape the pleats. The filter is available in 2-inch and 4-inch thickness.

A six-in-one driver for power drills and drill drivers has been developed. The multiple combination bit sets and sizes are available ranging from Phillips, square drive and square recessed to nut driver and slotted driver. The new Bosch Type I Power Band Spur and Type II Power Band Ship Auger Bit lines are the latest from Bosch Power Tools. The Bosch Type I Power Band Spur line ranges in size from one-fourth to 1 1/2-inch diameters and 7 1/2-, 13- and 17-inch overall lengths. According to Bosch, while both types of bits use their screw-point tip to pull themselves into either soft or hard wood, the Bosch Spur Auger uses a cutting spur to cut clean holes for applications unlikely to encounter nails. The Bosch Type II includes diameters ranging from three-eighths to 1 1/2 inches and overall lengths of 7 1/2, 17 and 24 inches. The bits are capable of cutting right through impediments in wood such as nails and staples, according to the company.

The Super Collector G20 portable gas vacuum collection system is designed primarily for residential air-duct cleaning, but can also be used for insulation removal and other light debris cleaning. A new line of foil tapes made for HVAC systems to withstand extreme temperatures has been introduced under the Nashua and Polyken brands. The No. 330 Extreme Weather Foil Tape is an industrial formulation for securing joints and seams in ductwork for HVAC systems. The tape offers performance in temperatures from minus 35ºF to 260ºF.
