Two students receive Rees scholarships

Two HVACR students awarded $2,000 courtesy of Rees scholarship.

ARLINGTON, Va. - Michael Witting of Liberty, Pa., and Jerrold Witz of Minneapolis, were each awarded $2,000 from the Clifford H. "Ted" Reese Jr. Scholarship Foundation. The foundation promotes HVAC career.

Witting, a student at the Pennsylvania College of Technology, is changing careers to air conditioning and refrigeration after working more than 14 years as a welder. He is an active member in the student chapter of the Air Conditioning Contractors of America and a member of the National Honor Society.

Witz, an honor student at the Minneapolis Community Technical College, has also decided to move into a career in the air-conditioning and refrigeration industry.

The deadline for next year's scholarships is Nov. 1. Applicants must demonstrate educational potential by completing a form with prior education, work history or military service, two letters of recommendation and a 150-word typed essay on why they should be awarded a scholarship. Students are eligible if they attend, or plan to attend, an HVACR training program at an accredited school.
