ASHRAE is seeking the public’s comments on changes to how the society judges building performance energy rating programs.

The American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Engineers’ proposed standard No. 214P, “Standard for determining and expressing building energy performance,” will solidify the approach for judging efficiency and the information contained on product labels, officials said.

Wayne Stoppelmoor, chairman of the committee writing the standard, said the HVAC construction industry is in need of standardization of green HVAC information labeling and criteria.

An earlier review generated 40 comments, ASHRAE said.

The public can comment at www.ashrae.org/publicreviews until Sept. 19.
