A newly constructed elementary school in Fayetteville, Ariz., is outfitted with more than 8,300 square feet of Metal Sales wall panels.

Officials say Fayetteville Montessori Elementary School’s unique architectural design required a durable external surface that would meet U.S. Green Building Council Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design standards. That’s where Metal Sales Manufacturing Corp. came into play, said Meryati Blackwell, project director at Marlon Blackwell Architect.

“We searched for a unique building material that would serve as a cost-effective and durable exterior surface with a long lifecycle, while meeting the sustainable expectations of LEED,” said Blackwell. “The T10-A panel from Metal Sales meets all of these requirements.”

The T10-A box rib panels are coated with a Kynar 500 finish in dark bronze. The unique shape of the panels allows them to act as a wall surface, not just a traditional wall panel, officials say. The panels also have a long life span of 50 years or more, are 100 percent recyclable and contain a high percentage of recycled material — contributing to LEED certification points.

Architect Marlon Blackwell said he enjoys working with Metal Sales.

“Metal Sales has been a great partner on several of our best projects,” he said. “The Metal Sales team understands our vision, and helps to achieve that vision by providing samples and working with us to solve the challenges of our custom details and designs.”
