Sheet metal and HVAC workers from Indiana, Texas and California are among the winners of the Associated Builders and Contractors’ National Craft Championships.

A total 137 apprentices competed April 30 to May 3 in 13 categories that included pipe fitting, plumbing and electrical work. This year’s contest was held in Birmingham, Ala.

“This year’s winners truly were the best of the best,” said 2013 ABC National Chairman Greg Hoberock, CEO of HTH Cos. Inc., in Union, Mo.“Displaying high-quality workmanship, technical knowledge and safe work practices, each of them helped prove that the future of the construction industry and ABC is bright. ABC is proud to recognize these winners as champions.”

In the HVAC category, the winners were:

Gold: Jared Whitehead. Training sponsor: Construction Education Foundation of North Texas. Employer: Aire Dynamics

Silver: Benjamin Morical. Sponsor: ABC of Indiana. Employer: Ellis Mechanical

Bronze: Todd Moolenaar. Sponsor: ABC of Wisconsin Apprenticeship and Training Trust. Employer: Manitowoc Heating & Refrigeration Services Inc.

The sheet metal winners were:
