ACCA to develop extended-care standards

Standards will cover carre for residential and commercial HVAC equipment.

ARLINGTON, Va. - The Air Conditioning Contractors of America will develop standards on extended care for residential and commercial HVAC equipment.

The ACCA Educational Institute's Standards Task Team plans to create two standards to provide HVAC contractors with guidance on assessment and maintenance procedures for operations, extended care, and the safety and health of existing HVAC equipment. One standard will deal with residential systems; the other with commercial systems under 25 tons.

The task team will also produce procedural checklists to confirm that components are functioning safely as designed, and at the highest level of operation efficiency.
