Norton Brownsboro Hospital is the first new full-service hospital to open in the Louisville, Ky., area in more than 20 years.

The five-story, 298,000 square foot facility features the latest in health care technology and an innovative patient and family-centered care model.

Approximately 58,000 square feet of Metl-Span CF Architectural Flat 2- and 3-inch insulated, horizontal and vertical wall panels finished in Antique Bronze and Oyster were used to clad the $146 million facility.

The project was designed by Karlsberger Architecture Inc. of Columbus, Ohio.

The Metl-Span panels were installed by ProClad Inc., based in Noblesville, Ind.

Metl-Span’s ability to provide a variety of panel modules was an important factor, project manager Steve Miller said.

“Due to the design of the project and the alignment of the joints with the windows and curtain wall, it was difficult to get a standard module panel to work with the layout," he said. "Metl-Span’s flexibility to produce different module panels was a key factor."

The budget for the project was an important factor in selecting Metl-Span, too.

“The cost of Metl-Span allowed us to be very competitive in our bid,” Miller said.

The general contractor on the project was Messer/TMG of Louisville.
