HOLLAND, Mich. — The Tomkins PLC’s air-systems components division has acquired commercial and residential building products manufacturer Milcor Inc. from Gibraltar Industries. The price was not disclosed.

Milcor’s brands include Lima Register, Leigh Portables Plus and Roof Products Systems. Its products include residential grilles, registers and diffusers, heat and smoke vents for use in commercial building construction, and products for the commercial roofing industry.

“This acquisition provides us with a strong product and customer synergies, expands our distribution capability in both wholesale and retail segments, and adds a new, complementary product line to our existing range,” said Gary Henry, president of Hart & Cooley Inc., a Tomkins subsidiary. “Strategically, Milcor also provides us with an important manufacturing capability in Asia.”

Milcor has an exclusive purchasing agreement with C-Land, a Chinese grilles and registers manufacturer, and annual sales around $47 million. The company operates from one manufacturing facility in Lima, Ohio, and two in Bensenville, Ill. It employs approximately 350 people. The Milcor brands will be retained and the operations integrated into the Hart & Cooley residential air-systems business.
